How do you deal with men's aversion to details or event planning?

So I went with a group for a trip where we had some basic plans like where we were staying, but the day to day stuff was up in the air. I researched a bunch of fun things to do in and around the area, then if no one else had an idea of what they wanted to do I always had one handy. We did I would say about 75% of the things I had looked up. I also did a separate list of possible restaurants, bars, etc in case we didn't have a plan for that at the time. It worked out really well. I really only had like one or two things on the list that I absolutely wanted to do for sure. Otherwise I was happy to just do whatever. So I guess I had the open additude to do whatever, but the backup plans in case the "whatever" didn't pan out.
