How do I help someone who won't help themselves?

You seem to be speaking from experience, and I really appreciate you taking the time to respond, but I can't go to this guy's funeral knowing I just watched this happen. I'm killing him by doing nothing if, God forbid, that's what it comes to.

I simply can't watch him do this, it's destroying me. There has to be something I can do.

I thought of the suicide prevention hotline, but I can't confirm if he's suicidal or just self destructive (Not that it's much better). I'm also not the one that needs help and don't want to waste a prevention agents time that could be saving someone else if they can't help me.

I'm still thinking of trying it anyway though.
