Haha really? You gotta optimize every syllable you speak while developing buggy, mediocre software?

That doesn't really communicate much: Do I want rpc? bare socket? RMI? How is the data serialized?

Business programming it’s completely rote. It’s the same thing every time. No one is pushing the limits of anything, and while it might require high levels of talent in corporate workplace political maneuvering, it certainly doesn’t require much technical skill.

All fields have jargon; but in my experience, business programmers seem to invent jargon as a cultural identifier more so than a necessary form of shorthand. They use it to inflate the perceived skill level of their jobs to keep new people out and their salaries high.

Going from game development to business programming — as the OP implied — is just decoding terms. You couldn’t go the other way without serious training.
