If a contact tracer calls you (or anyone with a cold calling job) be nice to us. We just want to eat and pay our bills.

There are no stupid questions. I do believe you have misunderstood what I do though. I'm a public health official as stated above. So, the job is not based on profit. We call people to help them find resources regarding testing, vaccines, etc. Also obviously a big part of the job is trying to understand the virus, its effects, as well as help people who have had close contact and have been exposed to covid-19. I have no idea what telemarketers have to deal with in particular. We try a few times and then simply move on. Most people agree to be interviewed. Some don't ever answer, probably because they think we are scammers. And a fun few make a fun day out of giving us anxiety and trauma by screaming at us when we are just trying to help people. So no, no docked pay, but definitely mental health problems.
