I'm actually really happy Monte and the OGN crew didn't go to MSI

Watch his day one play-by-play of CLG vs RNG.

In the fight where Stixxay got that quadra kill and died to Poppy, Monte went on a rant about how much he hates crit chance. "Stixxay crit. If Stixxay doesn't crit here, he would have died instantly" -- roughly quoting him.

Only thing is: Stixxay had 80% crit strike chance. Stixxay used caliber net back, which landed on Azir, which then modified his next auto attack to deal 190% bonus damage with or without crit strike. This modifier scales as such:

50% + (critical chance × (1 + 0.5 × bonus critical damage))% AD bonus physical damage

Instead of commenting on how good Stixxay played the fight and positioned, he implies that Stixxay only won that teamfight for CLG because he got that one crit. Obviously he doesn't exactly say Stixxay only saved the game because he got lucky, but that was the implication when his first comment is "if he doesn't crit here, he dies".

Stixxay had 80% crit chance. With 80% crit strike it's implied Stixxay should crit almost every single time, on the first auto attack, when switching to a new target. I could understand if that was Stixxay's 3rd or 4th straight crit on Azir, but it wasn't. It was his second auto attack on Azir. There was a 64% probability that Stixxay lands a crit on both autos against Azir, which he did.

Crit chance works differently in League. Missing a crit on your first auto attack means your next consecutive auto attack on the same target has a higher chance of critting. It averages out to the same probability in all cases.

In fact, if he had crit one or two more times against Poppy, he would have lived and gotten a Penta. Why didn't Monte mention this? And the fight would never have gone on that long in the first place in RNG's favor had Wuux not crit 3 times in a row with his inferior 50% crit chance. With 50% crit chance, Wuux had a 12.5% probability to crit 3 times in a row. Surely Stixxay luck should be allowed his 64% chance to crit twice considering Wuux had far greater luck just a second before dying to Caitlyn?

Monte's bias makes me not value his opinion at all, even if it's something I agree with. I can never know how much information he's leaving out, or framing in some direction, because of his prejudice.
