I'm not well versed about the history of NFL Teams. Can someone go into detail what made the Bills great in the Regular Season in the 4 years they went to the Super Bowl but came up short winning them?

I don't it's anything in particular. Some people will probably argue that the NFC was better back then so the Bills' Super Bowl opponent was usually better than their AFC playoff opponents. There's probably some truth to that. But to me, the Super Bowl is only one game and whoever's better that day will win. The Bills barely lost their first SB, and had a 13-6 lead at halftime in their 4th SB. So a couple plays here or there and they might have two rings. Heck, even their 52-17 loss to Dallas in their third SB wasn't as lopsided as the score may suggest. If I recall correctly, they were down 31-17 with possession of the ball early in the 4th quarter of that game....before the wheels completely fell off.
