"Let's do gun control" is an awfully bold statement. One can assume you want a full ban on all guns, regardless of the consequences or who it affects. Another can assume you just want more gun control on legally obtained guns.

I guess I'm not quite sure what exactly you're getting at though when you say "Let's do gun control".

Questions:

• How did that student obtain that gun?
  
• Was it legally purchased by an adult?
  
• Why did that student have the gun?
  
• What are the current legal consequences of your personally registered firearm falling into the hands of someone that cannot legally wield a gun?

You as a hunter already have registered firearms, assuming you obtained them legally, so I'm not sure what your point is when you say "I'll register". The state knows exactly which guns you've bought and sold.
