I've applied to over 50 internships through Handshake and haven't received a single interview offer. I have a near 4.0 and a resume that's been reviewed by the career center. What could I be doing wrong?

  1. What major are you? The software scene definitely keeps hiring even through May but big companies that humanities/social science majors tend to aim for stop hiring early in the spring.

  2. When did you start applying? Applying to 50 positions starting in March isn't that many, but I'd be surprised if you applied to that many in September/October and didn't hear anything back.

  3. GPA really only gets your foot in the door (except for grad school). I have near a 4.0 in engineering but no extracurriculars which makes recruiting a PITA every year, despite having had an internship every summer.

  4. Also, make sure to leverage the network you've developed here at Berkeley, which is where the real value of a Berkeley degree is
