I never meant to argue the South was not racist in both a legal and cultural sense. It obviously was,

I do not accept your conclusions it still is today to much the same extent. My point was the rest of the nation is not doing much better today.

There are many States that are 90+% white that have the exact same “us vs you”, (Red vs Blue) politics as the South. Their state wide politics are rarely considered as racially influenced as almost everyone is white.

In the South where State black populations run as high as 37%, and where 95% of that population votes as a group, there are politics that are not necessarily race based, but people perceive as 100% racist.
