The Joust

Rodrik made his way through the wast crowd that filled the area surrounding the jousting grounds, this time for once not alone. He did not like the thought of bringing his children to the Southerners events, especially not to those in which he partook himself, but he could not keep them on the ships during their whole stay. Together with Harren Sharp and another one of his men Rodrik created a way through which both of them could follow him closely.

The arena had a special kind of stench to it, one such that could only be produced when all the scum of Flea Bottom gathered in a tight, enclosed space. That in combination with the horse dung turned Rodriks stomach. Despite all that they were able to move fairly quickly, most of the commoners would shy away from the Ironborn anyway, but his Greyscale made it so much easier. Rodrik now took both of his children by the shoulders to keep them closer to him and searched for empty seats, which proved more difficult then expected.

After a while he spotted the kraken banners of house Greyjoy, hanging next to one of the boxes reserved for the higher Lords. It did not seem like he had another choice, and Quenton Greyjoy was more pleasant company then a horde of filthy peasants. He tapped Harren on the shoulder.

"You see the Kraken Banners over there? Let's ask our Liege if we can join him during the joust." Harren give him a quick nod and pushed his way further through the crowd. Rodrik now dipped his head so Arla and Qarl could hear him better. "Stay close to me until we reach our seats, I dont want you to get lost."

Soon they had arrived at their places of choice. Greyjoy was already seated with his three children.

"My Lords!" Rodrik gave both of the boys a nod and a smile. "And of course greetings to you aswell my Lady!" He lowered his head, before giving the girl a grin and turning to Quenton. "May we sit with you Greyjoy? They seem to have forgotten the honored seats for House Merlyn." He snorted amused by his own jest.

Rodrik did not wait for an answer, promptly taking a seat close to the Lord of Pyke, with his children and Harren next to him. He took a quick glance at the jousting grounds, where the first Lords already had their horses prepared for them. This would not be as suspenseful as the Melee, but he had thought the same about the Boxing Competition, and he was clearly proven wrong in that regard. Maybe this will be amusing afterall.

"Say my Lord, are you just as excited to see the Lannister getting knocked in the dirt as I am?" He gave Greyjoy an honest laugh.
