Judge dismisses accused rapist's discrimination lawsuit against Columbia University over mattress protest

I don't think there's really great evidence of her "being fucking crazy", but rather that there was a sexual encounter that they understood differently. What do you see in these stories that indicates that she's mentally unstable? The way rape victims act can be very confusing to observers--there was a really interesting story on This American Life this week about a woman who was happy and cheerful the day after being raped by a stranger in her own apartment, and police and friends thought it was so strange that they actually convicted her of making a false report. Only, months later, they caught the rapist because he had raped someone else and police had photographic evidence (that the rapist took after raping her) that conclusively proved that she was completely telling the truth. Listen to it here. But judging alleged victims of traumatic crimes by their behavior can lead people down false paths.

As for friendly behavior after a rape, this little piece (it's illustrated, it will take less than three minutes to read) really helped me understand some weird behaviors we see in rape cases. People in cases of genuine trauma react in sometimes unpredictable ways. Remember the Jon Benet Ramsey case? Everyone thought they were guilty because they weren't acting how we expected them to act. A decade later, her parents were cleared after advances in DNA testing pointed to someone outside the family. What you're pushing for is a rush to judgement in the court of public opinion while you're simultaneously criticizing a rush to judgement in the court of public opinion.

Now, I'm not saying this dude raped or that he didn't rape her. But I am saying that I looked at those four articles and I don't see anything that shows me that the woman "went fucking crazy". If I missed something, please point it out to me. I think what that shows much more clearly is that our current way of dealing with sexual assault on campus is "mad fucked up," for both the accuser and the accused.
