Manhattan Rents Reach Record High With Busy Season Yet to Come

Do you really know people that moved out of rent stabilized apartments into luxury buildings?

I've considered it and still am. I can literally afford an apartment that costs over 4x what my current one does. Would be nice to have a washer dryer, another bedroom, a dishwasher even. But my unit is pretty comfortable and I actually have a balcony with a view.

The main reason I haven't moved is the pure stability here, but I can also acknowledge I'm kinda "taking" this from someone who may actually need it more than me. I could rent something that's for example "only" 3x more expensive, would be a decent upgrade and I've have room for them bumping up my rent.

But is a washer/dryer really worth tens of thousands of dollars per year?
