'Landmark achievement': Rolls-Royce and easyJet hail successful hydrogen jet engine test

Jesus christ how condescending can a comment be. It's obvious that lots of conventions for how and why we put things where they are on modern aircraft would need to be rethought.

First fuel in the wings is mostly because the weight can be distributed nice and evenly it has very little to do with the shape. Go ahead and look at a cross section of a 737 wing the fuel container is a nice long rectangle which doesn't take advantage of the shape of the wing at all.

It's space that could totally be used for cargo if it was weighed and distributed evenly pre-flight it's just not the convention.

All you've managed to say is the way we do things now is easier but nobody ever said otherwise.
