Lauri Markkanen finnishes with a monster 31/18/2 on 11/18 shooting, his 3rd straight 30 point game

Tatum's situation is 1000x better than Markkanen's. Tatum has a great coach, a great system, and great teammates.

Markkanen literally has the worst coach in the NBA, who utilizes an outdated, 90's style 'walk it up' offense where outside of the pick and pop, Markkanen is left standing on the wing watching his less talented teammates go iso. A lot of his offense he has to create for himself because Kris Dunn isn't a true playmaking PG and the rest of his teammates typically don't make plays for him.

He also missed a significant portion of the season because of an injury to his shooting arm.

Despite all that, his stats and efficiency are, for the most part, superior to Tatum's across the board. There's things Tatum is better at than Markkanen, like ballhandling, but overall Markkanen is the better player and arguably has the highest upset out of anyone from that stacked 2017 draft class.

He's finally now hitting his stride, and he's only going to go up from here, barring injury. He could be an all-star and top 20 player as early as next season, and that's just scratching the surface.
