I've been watching a lot of anime and have breezed through quite a few shows that I'd like to take a moment to briefly talk about..

Chuunibyou S1 & S2

Easily my favorite romance for its silly and unique premise, but more so the heartwarming and sweet relationships between a cast of characters that you'll grow to love. I don't believe I was never not smiling while watching this. I also think its ending was nothing short of excellent, delicately delivering its subtle and touching message and leaving the events to come afterwards to your imagination. However, I still think it'd be criminal to not have a third season, but I have come to terms with the likelihood being minuscule if not nonexistent.

High School DxD S1 & S2

I didn't expect much going into this show but after binge watching both seasons I ended up thoroughly enjoying it for its harem/ecchi nature as well as the surprisingly decent action sequences. The story isn't anything that will blow your mind, but it does revolve around setting up some comedic and sexual situations. Also, there are a lot of bare breasts which is a plus in my book. I'm actually really looking forward to the next season this Spring.

Oreimo S1 + S2

I feel that you're either going to enjoy this show for its humor based around the questionable relationship of a brother and sister, or you're going to be completely turned off by its nudges at the idea of incest. If you can suck it up and power on through, it's not a half bad show. Actually, I really liked it even though some of the sibling love turned me off. Its relationships are fun, the antics are wacky, and its commentary on Otaku culture is interesting. To keep this spoiler free, after encountering the last few episodes of its last season, I can say from a completely personal perspective that the ending presented crapped all over everything the show had built up prior. I feel a little cheated if not disappointed. I'll leave it at that.

The Monogatari Series

It seems that there are a lot of people who both love and hate this series. I'm currently in the middle of Monogatari Series S2, but from what I've seen so far, wow. This show is poetic, intelligent, artsy, and I may be the only, but I loves the fan service. In truth, a lot of what goes on in the world of Monogatari probably goes way over my head, and I don't even mind because it's still unique and fun. I'm so sad that this series has ended and that I'm drawing near to its completion. I'm already dreading the aftermath of emotions once I finish it and the emptiness it will leave me with, but it was a hell of a good run. If S2 continues to be as great as it has been it'll either be 9/10 or my first 10/10.

Other Stuff*

  • Tokyo Ghoul S2 tomorrow! I'm so excited!

  • Funimation's website actually isn't even that bad for streaming anime.

  • I've put Kimi no Todoke and Shinsekai Yori on hold indefinitely as I was getting very bored of them both.

  • So far nothing has stood out this winter season. Absolute Duo has to be the one I most enjoyed so far with Kantai Collection, Shinmai Maou no Testament, Yuri Kuma Arashi, being fairly "meh".

  • Also watching Monthly Girls which is pretty hilarious.
