Let’s talk about ABA therapy. ABA posts outside this thread will be removed.

There are plenty of great articles that answer these questions further, but the short of it is a very clear cause and effect:

ABA is pretty similar to Pavlov’s bell, rewards are given for “appropriate” (aka NT) behaviors, and kids are trained to perform as if they aren’t ASD. This takes a lot of energy and is a never ending drain. You cannot train away the autism. ABA teaches that who you are, how you think, and the way you process is bad. Eventually we’ll do this on our own, guilt tripping ourselves for being anything other than NT. Unfortunately the world is set up for allistics so we often learn this through out life regardless. But in my opinion you’ve got a much better chance without the therapy.
