I think that's very good empathy on behalf of disadvantaged people! I think it's important to look at intentions, from what she's said it seemed more that she wanted to raise herself rather than bring her pop contemporaries down, but she flubbed it by saying it in such a tone-deaf way.

I do think it's two different things to come for someone's actions versus someone's character. And I think there was a supreme lack of trying to see what kind of perspective and/or what circumstances would make these statements without immediately jumping to "and I oop--looks like we found the REAL Lana del Rey. The mask has fallen!"

Contrapoints, a trans philosopher YouTuber, did a really great video on cancelling and I'm just seeing a lot story beats repeating here.
