I don’t have much advice as I have to live with my gone-off-the-deep-end Dad right now but just want to say I think there are a lot of us out there. I’ve tried being diplomatic and attempting to find some shred of common ground but it’s nearly impossible....

I’ve tried avoiding the topic but at times that makes him angrier and then other times my emotions get the better of me and I take the bait bc I hate being backed into a corner and am used to standing up for my views. He’s always been conservative, but has well and truly transformed these past couple of years to an angry, bigoted human being. Reading your post- I wish people like your parents and my Dad could know how much they are damaging their relationships with their family and friends. I’m not perfect, but it’s exhausting and honestly sad. We’ve always disagreed politically so it’s not like I need people to agree with me all the time but I really don’t know how to argue against that level of delusion, so I sympathize with you.
