You aren't wrong. We have definitely read and workshopped things that leaned or blurred the lines into speculative. I don't disagree with you that those things have merit. Nonetheless, it's difficult to cast a net into the open waters of the interwebs without making those initial distinctions to find like-minded writers. So many of the existing forums/discord groups are so SF or fantasy-focused that it's made finding writers of literary fiction difficult to find. Again, nothing wrong with genre fiction, but if you only write genre fiction, this isn't the group for you. That said, if you want to blur lines and lean towards the human element in the midst of genre tropes or genre expectations, maybe that would be a good fit.

So, it's ultimately a distinction made here to find like-minded writers. If that's not cool with you, carry on.
