This is also happening in Kenya right now. The ruling party rigged the elections and the results were nullified by our supreme court. As a result the the ruling party started spreading propaganda messages and now wants to amend the constitution to serve their interests. We are one of the few nations in Africa that has independent bodies for the Supreme court and the electoral body and because the ruling party lost, they are trying to change that and pass laws that limit their independence as we head for a repeat election. They've also tried to control the narrative by shielding media coverage of the opposition during this interim campaign period and making threats to people who are against their ideologies saying that they are against peace in the country. The ruling party is preaching peace, we call them 'Peacepreneurs' to the people as a means of passing fear to the nation that the opposition wants violence which is definitely not true. Irregularities found in the election warrants arrests and prison sentences to some people of the electoral body but guess what they are the ones conducting the repeat elections in hope that the nation will trust those frauds.
