Yeah, I hear you. That's all sort of what I've come to realize now too which is super unfortunate as I was defiantly naive to the idea that every doctor "knows best". I suppose in my defense I was a minor during all of this and I'm just now looking into this again as an adult at 22. So I'm now realizing my parents did no research and honestly probably didn't really care to. They didn't believe in any of my jaw issues they just wanted my teeth to be straight. My parents made the call for my 4 teeth to be extracted just to later say they didn't want me to have the surgery. I also was told by my parents I was getting the 4 teeth extracted 10 minutes before I was going in for my wisdom teeth removal. They had just spoken with my doctor and made the split decision. And yeah I only have 24 teeth :(
