LPT: Hire movers

Not always true. I'm sure this is a fine tip, but we hired movers for the first time last year, paid $800, and they absolutely fucked everything up. Damaged the container we were packing our stuff into the point we could not open it without damaging the furniture inside. They were well-rated on Google but we have a strong suspicion the company simply outsourced to independent movers. Who knows how much they paid those guys because by the looks of it it must have been close to nothing; that's how much fucks they gave about our stuff.

Scratches on the dining table. Broken glass table. Our boxes marked fragile were all over, no security. When you have to pack and wrap everything yourself in the first place, I find you may as well make the last 15% and put it where it needs to go. I'm sure there are hundred good stories to each bad one, but having $3000+ in damages on top of the $800 we paid them to do it, never taking a chance again.
