LPT: As a lawyer, don't take legal advice from Reddit.

You don’t need to be a lawyer to know the law. Although to be an expert you typically do have to be one, I don’t need a degree to tell you certain things within the context of law. I feel like most people use this as a general feel and not actual legal advice.

While you’re right it differs incredibly location to location, if someone is asking if it’s illegal for their neighbors to put up a fence without a city permit then one could make a reasonable judgement without knowing their specific location that is probably against city code. This is how most subreddit works, Wallstreetbets is a good example, lots of people go there for investing advice but 99.99% of people who listen to any posts there lose all their money.
