I guess your story reminded me. We did not have one, but I wish we did.

My family home caught on fire on the outside, on the side where the gas fireplace feeds the air to the outside (I don't know what it's called, but it's the vent).

We actually stopped the fire before the fire department arrived, and our home only had damage to the side in the end. It took all 5 of us (mom, dad, 2 brothers, and me) frantically trying to control the fire with the back and front garden hoses, and tossing burning items onto the yard to kind of break the fire apart. Unsafe in retrospect, but you can't watch your home burn.

Our neighbours just kinda gathered around our home watching us running around trying to save our home. No one even tried to help.

It is far easier to decide how materials and custody should be divided while both parties are on good terms. It'll save you both a lot of time and money. LPT: One of the biggest mistakes you could make when trying to climb any company’s ladder is believing that your skill, talent, and work ethic will be noticed and rewarded. More often than not, the only thing holding you back is keeping your mouth shut.
