LSU fan coming to engage in (hopefully) civil discussions. Please don't shoot me.

On Wednesday the storm was tracking in such a way that it genuinely looked like the game could be played safely in Gainesville. At that point, Foley would have been foolish to decide to move or cancel it. Each home game is a huge economic boost to the city, not to mention this could be a close game and there is definitely a competitive advantage. Nobody wanted to move/cancel the game when it looked like it would be fine.

On Thursday the storm moved, and it became suddenly more obvious that Gainesville would get hit. It wouldn't be responsible to hold the game there. Unfortunately, it was also too late to get the team and staff necessary ready to get on a plane for a road trip before the hurricane hit.

In hindsight, a neutral location should have been decided on earlier. If the hurricane was always obviously going to wreck Gainesville, this is very likely what would have happened. But on Tuesday and Wednesday nobody had this hindsight. The idea that everybody KNEW that Gainesville was gonna get hit hard and was just postponing the decision to get out of playing in BR is just a made up conspiracy. Shit, MAYBE it's true! But there's no real reason to believe it. And when a hurricane is bearing down on the city, it's insulting to also assume the worst in the staff instead of giving them the benefit of the doubt.
