My first job interview, like legal paying job was a pretty far cry from normal. I had worked under the table at a few jobs & did handyman work as a teenager. But The first real interview was when I was 20. Government job, taking care of county properties, historical sites, building playgrounds, basketball courts, and random other things in the county. It was a kush job with average pay but promises of raises and fucking great benefits. Plus I got to be outside most of the time and could work with my hands.
I was nervous as hell. Didn’t really dress up, but wasn’t sloppy looking.
I walked in, met the commissioners & their staff, shook everyone’s hand and introduced myself and this was the entire conversation. Between me and about 5 people.
“Well, u/nameofafeller, you’re not a junkie or anything right?
“Nope”
“Can you run a chainsaw?”
“Oh, absolutely”
“Can you start now?”
“Uhh yeah, I’d have to make a few calls but absolutely”
“Alrighty.. Well, welcome to the county commission”
Had to sign a few papers, then they took me to a hillside that my new group coworkers were clearing and told me to go introduce myself.
Still work for them to this day.
Hope your boyfriend gets the job he’s wanting.
