Seriously, I ask you what else you would want from someone in this instance. Would you prefer he had killed himself? Not realized that he was putting harm into the world? He tried based on his understanding of the world, which in many ways was not up to him, which is a process I can PERSONALLY speak to, as a trans person who grew up traditional Christian. What happened to those people who heard those things from him is awful, and I sincerely doubt that those do not hang over him on a regular basis. But how can we ever expect people to grow if we condemn their efforts to do so? Can we not acknowledge the clear and immense effort they have put in since to make up for the demonstrable harm of their past? What would your alternative be then?
