Man killed wife's father and sister to lure her to their funeral, then murdered her at the service

Growing up in El Paso I was always amazed by the stark contrast between El Paso, Texas and Juarez, Mexico. Even though the cities are constantly referred to as "sister cities" they could not be more different where safety in concerned.

I find it interesting that the murder happened in 2008 in Juarez, during a time where the murder rate was highest, around 8 murders a day, every day all year round. If he had killed his wife first before the other two family members I honestly don't know whether they would have even charged him with all the violence going on over there.

El Paso, on the other hand, has been ranked the safest city in the US for several years. The crime rate is extremely low and the streets are very safe.

I used to joke that El Paso was so safe because everyone probably just took their illegal business across the border. This article makes me feel a bit more right about that. But I guess it's also good to know even then he couldn't get away with it.

Btw, Here's an article on the differences between El Paso and Juárez. Two Sides of a Border: One Violent, One Peaceful
