Married into a Desi family of doctors, but I'm not one myself. Any advice on how to deal?

strangest thing about desi culture is this glorification of medical professionals. When I was 17-22, sure doing XYZ brutal residency sounded cool, but the more I thought about it... was I wanting to do it for external validation.. or was I being serious. Started asking questions about "do I want to be doing this when I'm 55 lol" and also realizing family time and being involved in kid/wife's life is important to me.. At the end of the day, we are all going to die, so who really gives a shit if you graduated from XYZ med school/residency/fellowship. You can have the name of a "top 10" school to have a dick measuring contest, and be a total jackass to people. Not necessarily the best person I'd want being a part of my care or working with.

The people who can come to terms that career doesn't define a person and that there is way more to life, are going to be much happier in life imo.
