'[Rajan Moonesinghe] did nothing wrong': Family of Texas entrepreneur fatally shot by police say he was defending his home

Qualified Immunity isn’t going away at all. It’s going to stay around as long as public offices exists. What needs to change is increased training into de escalation but also universal funding for departments. The issue of the departments that has issues is two things. Bad hiring practices and lack of funding. Most departments do the state min and then their own training. Their training can vary from department to department. Some departments are better at de-escalation cause they’ve put additional training into it and some just don’t have the funding or the city won’t pay for it. Hence, unless the officer does it on their own dime, they won’t do it.

All in all, better funding ( proper placement of that funding), better hiring practices, and higher state mins that are actually proven to work, not bs shit to appease people ( this right here is a disservice to officers and citizens).
