Struggling with severe mental health issues but family won't understand

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through that. Unfortunately, mental health is something heavily stigmatized in our culture. I’ve had anxiety for the longest time and my parents have always dismissed it. It’s disheartening to get that kind of treatment from people that you love and you expect them to understand. Yes, I do believe you should lie and get seen by a health care professional if you are dealing with problems and having suicidal urges. First thing you need to get done is be formally diagnosed by a psychiatrist. They can show what the next steps will be. Do you have a family practitioner from which you can get a referral from? If you think it’s an emergency, you can voluntarily admit yourself and get seen at a hospital but state laws can be different so I advise to look those up and be familiar with that.
