I've seen this question on various forums and the top answer from people who admit to wearing a mask in the car alone seems to be: "I just forget I have it on".

To me this is worse than the crazy person who is wildly irrational about it and thinks they're preventing the spread of coronavirus. To me this suggests that their spirit has been completely broken. I'm reminded of the "training elephants to not stray" allegory, which basically says if you chain an elephant's leg to a post, he learns he can only go so far, and after enough time passes, you could tie a string to its leg and it would still only go as far as he's been conditioned to think he could go, even though he could easily break free, he has long since forgotten that he could. Complete demoralization.
