Like 4 months ago. Before that maybe 3 years.

So with the most recent; my girlfriend of 6 years out of nowhere started getting blurry and double vision. She’d be in physical pain just by looking up. We went to local walk in clinic; they told us go to the eye hospital; they told us go to A&E and they’d be expecting us.

We get to the hospital and immediately go for blood tests and other tests. They have no idea what’s wrong with her but don’t want us going anywhere so decide to admit her. At one point they tell us it could be MS which freaked me out so much I was so scared. They would bring in doctors from different hospitals just to see us on the first day; which had us worrying why they were making a big fuss for us; it had to have been something big.

After 3 weeks being stuck in hospital with no idea what’s wrong with her and god knows how many blood tests, so many CT scans, MRI scans, some weird electric reflex scan or something, lumbar punctures and probably more I’m forgetting she then got an infection on her appendix. My girlfriend called me while I was at work and she was just crying; she couldn’t say a word. I tried to get answers but she was crying too hard and wanted me with her. I left work and went straight to the hospital. When I found her she looked the worst she’s ever been and broke down in front of me. She didn’t get any worse news when she called me, she was just mentally and physically broken at this point. I lost it and cried with her.

She was finally given a clinical diagnosis of a very rare eye disease and is on meds. Doing better, but still some way to go.

We got engaged last week.
