Men should have the right to ‘abort’ responsibility for an unborn child, Swedish political group says

Let's look at Australia, where single mothers receive increased government welfare support during the first few years of a child's life. Where they receive a monetary bonus for having a child. Where they don't need to work until the child is school age. Where child support doesn't affect the level of welfare you receive from the government. Some women actively try and have children, with friends or one night stands, because they simply get more money having children and receiving welfare + child support than they do working. This, in my opinion, is wrong. My housemate was recently sent a scan as 'proof' that a girl he had slept with two weeks prior was pregnant with his baby - the scan showed no details and no dates, and obviously was way too early to show a 2 month developed fetus - yet she wanted him to man up and take responsibility. She had nothing to do with him until she realized he has a cozy wage since they last dated.

So what are his options if she actually is pregnant with his child, she knows he doesn't want children and actively agreed until the test came back positive. What rights does he have going into this forseeable future as a parent, considering he made all the right choices with safe sex and she lied to him about her intentions? That's right, he has none, other than an obligation to support her and the child, while she also collects a nice sum of welfare benefits and entitilements.

So yes, I agree that we should have a system in place for the father to deny his own rights and responsibilities towards a child in my country, because we have a system in place that will allow children to be raised beneficially without the need for the 'father' to support a child he doesn't see.
