Microsoft’s USB-C Surface dongle is finally here, and it’s huge

Oh I’m sorry, those 34” monitors and dual 24” external monitor setups I’ve been running off ULV laptops for the last 4 years, with piles and piles of crap open during projects, must’ve been imagined.

Literally none of that is bottlenecked by a ULV CPU. They’re pretty potent these days. May as well take its advantages and have a machine that’s light and runs all friggin day when I’m not at my desk.

Even with Revit open on a massive project, I’m bottlenecked by RAM, screen space, single core performance (ULVs can clock high just fine), and the network connection to our server more than anything else. A higher TDP CPU doesn’t do shit. An x1 carbon runs that absolutely fine if you get 16GB.
