MIL wants to borrow money

Look, it's easy for her to say, her finances are none of your business.

And that would be true, if she wasn't making her finances YOUR business, by repeatedly asking you for loans.

In my view, this is when it ceases to be just her business, and starts being your business too.

Because it looks like she is living beyond her means, and expecting you guys to bankroll her lifestyle.

What's more, she now appears to be expecting you guys to just fork over the money, no questions asked. So my next question is, are you guys paying for her essentials when she overspends (food, shelter, medical expenses), or is she using you guys to top up her "play money"? And does it matter to you guys? (It would matter to me: one is a matter of poor budgeting, but if she's paying for essentials first and expecting you guys to fund her indulgences, well personally I would be ropeable.)

I'm sorry if this comes off as harsh, and hard ass. But I was debt collector for a long time, and I worked most of that time with insolvent debt. I have seen the shit that happens when people give JN faaaaammmmillly who feel financially entitled, unrestricted access to their family members' finances, right up to voting in the insolvency meetings as a creditor.
