Millennials are causing a "baby bust" - What the actual fuck?

In Norcal I pay $2600+ a month to rent a one room apartment. My fridge, stove, microwave, computer, oven, kitchen sink, and couch are all in the same room that I sleep in.

Minimum wage is $14 an hour here. Of course people in general make significantly more money in California than other states, but still it's ridiculous.

I'm also 22 so I'm in college. Assuming I don't drive anywhere, I don't eat, and I don't spend any money outside of tuition and housing. My living expenses come out to about $4600 a month. Also my parents haven't given me $1 since I moved out so I have my own health insurance, phone plan, car, and whatever else.

One thing that frustrates me a little is that I have some cousins also in college that are only children so they don't have to worry about money at all and have never had to work. They're always annoying me about how I don't have a girlfriend and how I don't party and whatever, but it's like, I'm not worried about partying or girls, I'm worried about whether or not suicide is the only answer (don't take that seriously I'm actually very motivated in life).

I'm very thankful that I played my cards well in the recent past so I do have the savings to make it for a while longer unless something really bad happens. I am going to get a surgery during the middle of next quarter so I probably wo t be able to work at all, but I still am planning on attending classes. The recovery time is usually like 2-5 weeks before you can walk around and go to work, but I'm pretty healthy so I'm going to do the surgery on a Friday morning and hopefully be ready when class starts up again for the week.

Also by the way the apartment isn't letting me move out so that's why I haven't just moved out already. I've been here for 2 months so far. This practice by whoever owns this place seems completely illegal to me so I'll have to look into this more sometime this week.
