It's not in the GOP interest to sink Bernie. In fact, I personally think there's a a decent chance that some his online social media support are secret right wing trolls/shills who will support his attacks on Dems and the Democratic party so long as he's undermining them.

Clinton has some blame for Bernie. She never finished him off and ended the primary decisively. She always pulled her punches and laid off when she could have finished him.

Like after New York, she let him take Indiana, which he won by a small margin, by not even campaigning or spending any money in the state and starting her planning for the general election. She never did what she had to do to finish him off, and that's some kind of lack of winning instinct on her part. It's like all she wanted to do was show him he couldn't win, and then she'd pull back. But it was her job to crush him and nail the lid on the coffin, which she never seemed to want to do.

One result of that is many of his supporters just psychologically don't even see her as having won.
