MRW when my coworker brings his N64 to the lab during a snow emergency to show me how good he is at original Smash Bros.

Here's a SSB story that I have from way before it came out. My dad was working with this rep from Nintendo based out of Mexico named Luis. At the time my dad was involved in middle manning electronics between asia and the U.S. Luis had a spec console that was being developed at the time that they were calling the mimicom.

I happened by the office one afternoon while they were all hanging out. I got to place a Need For Speed game on this console that hadn't been released. They asked me what I liked about my video game console, then we backed out of the game to check out the menus. Luis said that they were working on integrating all of these features into next generation consoles. You could check your pictures thru USB, there was a clock to check the time. Stuff that seemed useless at the time but now is just an expected feature on consoles.

The coup de grace was them telling me about Nintendo working on a game that would take all of it's biggest heroes and putting them into a game together, where you could actually fight Pikachu Vs. Link Vs. Mario.

Needless to say, I was blown away. I remember being on the school bus the next day trying to tell everyone and anyone who would listen about it. No one believed me and I began to doubt myself too. My dad had been involved in this gamegirl thing, that stored tons of games in the case of a single game or something, and importing cheap tower frames of ferraris and stuff. So I knew that some of his stuff was kind of fringe.

Anyways, fast forward 15 years and those games are everywhere. Consoles have integrated every feature mentioned that afternoon and way more. Funny how they seemed useless and stupid that day. And now I never tell this story because people still doubt me, and further, what's the point of telling anyone this story anyways. But it's the internet. So who cares.
