My [29F] best friend [30F] of fifteen years is siding with the woman [30sF] who assaulted me at her bachelorette party this weekend. How do I move on?

Could Chloe perhaps have some narcissistic personality traits? Have a read, for example, about covert narcissists. This is a type of narcissism without necessarily showing some of the more grandiose, attention-seeking features commonly associated with the disorder.

Some common traits include passive-aggressiveness, being highly sensitive (often handles criticism poorly, sees themselves as misunderstood/hard-done-by - when they're at fault, it's usually externalized as being others not understanding them), self-absorbtion, a lack of empathy and typically very difficult interpersonal relationships.

Often with this type of narcissist, you can maintain a friendship with them, but it is very much focussed on them and they struggle to either understand or acknowledge it when they're in the wrong. When their "no one understands me/I'm special" mindset is threatened (such as when an event like this might risk personal career advancement and ego) they will often drop the friendship with little warning in order to advantage themselves; they do this out of a need to protect their fragile psyche from uncomfortable self-reflection and from admitting they might ever be wrong.

These people can often appear to "have your back" and to "love you" but only on a superficial level, and only to the extent you support their egos. If you upset them (i.e. if they are in the wrong) they will dump you like a bag of bricks and will often tend to hold exaggerated grudges when "wronged".

Often these people can treat you as a sort of pet, in a way - taking care of you as a protection of something almost like a possession (narcissistic parents for example can appear to "love" their children but most of their actions will be completely self focussed e.g. treating their children to wonderful toys as a way of showing off wealth).

I could be way off here, but it's something to consider. Chole's response to the whole event seems very abnormal.
