My mom and dad building their house in 1953. My mom (91 now) still lives there.

My first house was a 1919 Craftsman Style story and a half Bungalow. It was bought to be built but not from Sears. When I bought it from the bank for $23,000 in 1990, I just thought it was a cheap fixer upper. As I started rehabing it I was finding cherry trim and doors through out that had been painted. Arched walk through's that had been covered by drywall. Solid 1 1/2" oak flooring, all kind of high end building material. After researching I found the guy who built mine did the one across the street too. I told my neighbor and he started telling me about my house. There use to be a huge tree in the front yard like he had. and the original owner's wife lived in it until she died a few years earlier. He had some good stories. Up in the attic on the roofing truss' were penciled numbers that were used to be placed according to the directions it came with for assembly. I wish I'd kept it.
