Myth: Fictions are just for stories!

A lot of people sadly never learned to enjoy fiction. Maybe their parents/guardians didn't read to them, maybe they didn't have access to cool books and were stuck with the super preachy kid stories from the educational canon, maybe they were made uncomfortable or put on the spot by lit teachers and now refuse engagement with fiction altogether. A lot can go wrong in the early years, and there are more Trunchbulls out there than Mrs. Honeys.

Maybe they are desperate and out of their wits, and want some simple wisdom to cling to. Let's just say, the times I looked into self help weren't exactly the ones I was looking for adventure, immersion or connection to something out of my immediate comfort zone. I didn't really find solutions in these books, but those platitudes annoyed me enough to push me into figuring my own shit out. So, success through error?
