Not saying they're equivalent, just giving an example of how this line of thinking is stupid.

Person A has trait that someone doesn't like.

Person B assaults Person A because Person B feels that Person A's trait is reason enough to justify the illegal act.

Now, fill in that trait with literally anything and you can see how this line of thinking can be problematic and used to justify acts against people who you actually might give a shit about.

With people like the person in the post who identify with something a majority of people dislike, it's easy to overlook the violation of rights taking place because the guy is a fucking Nazi right. The thing is, wearing a Nazi armband isn't illegal. The guy did instigate an assault, and given the context of the situation (which I am unaware of), that alone would be justification for the punch, not because he wearing a Nazi armband.
