Yep, and their excuse is always that gymnastics is tOo HaRd for the “average viewer” to understand so they need to find narratives and basically make it a reality show to make it entertaining. First of all that’s so insulting both to the average viewer’s intelligence and to the sport’s entertainment value. Second of all it’s just NOT TRUE! Look up commentary from any other broadcaster for past meets and they find a way to make it both engaging/not too technical while also breaking down the rules for more casual fans. It’s really not that hard and I firmly believe most people watching at the Olympics would prefer seeing more cool flips and routines than watch Simone walk around while Tim and Nastia wax poetic about their careers.
