On paper, this team should have fallen apart with very last minute staffing changes and having only one assistant coach who is new to the program. The team morale must be low. His morale must be low. Only coaches know the challenges of being a coach. Maybe it is more than just ranking they are looking at. If they voted for him, they may realize the difficult position dealt to this team and they still maintained their ranking. Look what low team morale did to UCLA last year. UCLA did phenomenal this year, gymnasts seem happier, I am sure Janelle McDonald is deserving of a lot of honors, but I personally wouldn't take it away from Santos either though.
