Need help deciding which MI MOS to choose: 35(?)

35M is pretty tight. More than half of my 35M friends are either doing cool guy stuff, prepping to do cool guy stuff, or are doing language training with only a few not doing much at all. It's really luck of the draw depending on the unit and the mission. I really like the job. It's fun, it's challenging to be good at, and if you get the right experience, it can translate well to other stuff. It opens up loads of doors. One door, if you want to stay in the Army, is it can lead to working in the Defense Attache Service. Basically, you do... stuff... at some random ass American embassy. It's a good opportunity. If you wanna do CI, HUMINT is the best feeder MOS for reclassing to 35L. I personally think it is one of the most worthwhile enlisted MOS out there to join as, but I'm very biased. It does seem up your alley.

35Q I've heard has a crazy washout rate. Cool in theory... if you don't end up being reclassed, which is likely.

35F is pretty easy but always seemed kinda boring. They have a garrison mission, but they don't have the same opportunities to do awesome shit like 35Ms do in so far as I know. Not a bad option by any means though.

35N seems pretty cool but I don't have enough of an understanding about what they do to really say much.

Generally speaking based on what I've gathered from those who are much more seasoned than me in the intel field, for going to the alphabet soup, you're going to want at least a four year degree and experience doing your job that you can draw upon. For the CIA and DIA, a language is a big plus, which you can get with 35M (though it's not guaranteed for the time being). 35N, 35Q, and 17C could theoretically get you in with the NSA. You're probably gonna want to be an NCO to be competitive and preferably do some high speed shit (work with special operations or Rangers, for example) whenever you apply. It's very important to network and build connections if you want to go that route.

That said, make sure you have reasons to join the Army for the sake of joining the Army. Don't just join solely for the job, because being a soldier is a lot more than just the MOS. I think you'd really enjoy being a 35M if you're down with the whole soldier thing.

Also, have you looked into the Foreign Service? I think HUMINT experience and your degrees would translate pretty well to being a diplomat, though I don't know anybody who's done that. It's one of the options I'm evaluating for my future whenever I decide to get out. You should look into it if you haven't already.

Anyways, I wouldn't say 35M is a bad idea. Based on your degrees, 35M and 35F seem to be the best options. Based on the fact that you want to do CI, HUMINT is the way to go. If you have interest in tech shit, 35N isn't a bad idea.

Have you talked to a recruiter? Taken the ASVAB? If so, what sort of scores did you get? How's you're PT? Strong areas, weak areas? Do you have thick skin? How do you feel about office work? Field work? Are you thinking active duty, guard, or reserve?

I'd love to help in any way I can.
