Like the claim that passenger car sales have dropped in recent years because everyone is waiting for affordable EV passenger cars. When I drove my Model 3 home over Thanksgiving, literally one person in my extended family had ever heard of Tesla. A dozen other people didn't even know that electric cars exist. They couldn't even wrap their heads around the idea of an electric car when I tried to explain it to them. Back where I live everyone I spend time with for work and recreation is excited about Tesla, but they all have science and engineering degrees, so they're the most biased sample set imaginable. Don't forget that a Reddit Tesla or EV forum is an extreme echo chamber. The move from sedans to SUVs was evident long before Tesla released the Model S.
