no evidence that people should consume omega three?

And why should i care? I managed to run trough data which supports hypothesis (on "your" site) that Fish oil helps in depression and claiming that its as good as fluoexetine is just scammy Making such conclusion on data there is provided is just wrong and unscientific especially considering that most readers dont read studies and dont critically assess them. There is also a problem that you could just chose studies that suit you agenda.

Anyway if you are responsible for that entry at examine.com in my eyes it just makes you shady because whole supplements industry is shady as fuck. You make money by convincing people that they need to take some stuff not that they dont need to use it.

Also metanalysis is only as good as data you base it on. Nowadays you dont even get access to raw data from studies, only data which is transformed and produced by party which is behind a study.Id you are naive enought to believe that studies funded by fish oil industry dont have some serious bias involved thats ok but dont expect im naive too.

Lets look at some dounle blinded studies and their conclusions:

Notes for this study: In women with major depressive disorder during the perinatal period, supplemental fish oil (414mg EPA and 1638mg DHA) failed to find any evidence for an antidepressive effect over 6 weeks of supplementation.

*Notes for this study: 6g of ethyl EPA daily for 4 months in persons with bipolar disorder failed to influence either manic or depressive symptoms relative to placebo. *

*Notes for this study: Fish oil, at 2.5g omega-3 (2085mg EPA, 348mg DHA) in a cohort of medical students was able to reduce anxiety by 20% (as assessed by Beck Anxiety Inventory) with no effect on depressive symptoms (as assessed by Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale)

LPS-induced IL-6 release was reduced in the fish oil group. *

* Notes for this study: Supplementation of either an EPA rich or DHA rich formulation of fish oil for 34-36 weeks in pregnant women prone to depression has failed to significantly alleviate depressive symptoms despite an inverse relationship between DHA and depression. *

*Notes for this study: In women with peripartum and postpartum depression given 220mg DHA with or without ALA (parent omega-3 fatty acid) failed to find any significant depressive effects associated with treatment. *

There are only small sample studies that show SOME effect and some studies that arent even about depression (immflamation in old people)actually im suprised that you even want to dicuss it when evidence linked at examine, com clearly shows how weak evidence of using omegas 3 in depression is.
