Notes on my psychotic breaks

I’m not implying that at all. I don’t think it provides any wisdom or secret insight, but I do think the way we perceive reality during a psychotic break is a glimpse into the seat of consciousness of an earlier evolution of human consciousness. The fact psychotic episodes have so many similar features across space and time (angels, spirals, believing everything is interconnected) isn’t because those things “exist” but because early humans saw nature as alive, literally. That’s not just an idea, but a whole different perception of reality.

For early humans and psychotics alike, reality appears to be driven by a mythopoetic story they’re a part of, compelled to see and do things.

I don’t think a psychotic episode can provide special insight nor did I say that. But I very much felt like my break was my mind deciding that my current perception of reality bo longer made sense, so I basically wiped my mind and started from scratch trying to make sense of reality.

And during my break, I could see how my delusions were rooted in expressions of fear and anxiety but it came to “life” as a narrative I was a part of. We see that all over the historic record.
