Nursery that sells Venus Flytraps.

They are one of those plants that are hard to keep - I've read all kinds of contradictory stuff about them, too, but I just think about where they come from - South Carolina swamps for example. So they like very high humidity, heat, and an acid environment.

Mine do NOT like direct sun, but want all the light they can get. I keep mine outside on the patio, where they light all day, but sun only in the morning. When I had them in full sun or full shade, they died. I put them where my Boston ferns are happy, and they were happy, too.

Keep the soil moist all the time - I use a jug of distilled water and just give the soil water every day or two.

I keep mine planted in a mix of sand, spaghnum moss, and organic planting mix. Despite being a swamp plant, they will rot in standing water. Plant in a pot with a hole in the bottom.

And never, ever give them plant food like Miracle Grow, or any of those with mineral salts in them. Just like your palm plants, those salts will kill them. Don't use the Miracle Grow potting soil either. They are very sensitive to salt water.
